Lake Erie yellow perch are also known by many along Lake Erie as yellow gold. This highly sought after fish is know for being one of the best eating fish in freshwater. With many ways to cook it and eat, yellow perch are also fun to catch. Typically we start fishing for them starting around late July through October with September and October being the best months. In the fall we catch the jumbos that Lake Erie is known for up to 14 inches long. We use our fish finder to locate schools of perch along the bottom where we will go upwind of them and drop an anchor letting line out till we are right on top of the school. When fishing for yellow perch, we use mostly emerald shiners caught in the local waters of Lake Erie's western basin on perch spreaders. Lake Erie yellow perch fishing is fun for the whole family, usually catching them two at a time.
